What are porcelain veneers?
Veneers are thin shells of porcelain material that fit over the existing teeth. This popular cosmetic dentistry treatment is ideal for straightening, whitening and perfecting your smile. Porcelain is the ideal choice for veneers because it is very strong and matches the appearance of natural teeth. This versatile restoration can address a range of aesthetic concerns.
- Create your perfect smile
- Maintain a youthful appearance
- Protect your natural teeth
- Boost your confidence
- Fix aesthetic imperfections
- Hides discolouration
Chipped, discoloured and crooked teeth can damage your self-esteem. Veneers offer a chance to achieve a flawless smile without the need for extensive orthodontic treatments. In just two visits, you could walk away with a beautiful smile that fills you with confidence.
At our Hounslow dental practice, we use Emax porcelain veneers to create beautiful dental restorations. This material is durable and incredibly natural-looking. Veneers are ideal when other restorations such as teeth whitening or orthodontics are not suitable, including:
Discolouration due to impact
Uneven colouring
Chipped or cracked teeth
Porcelain veneers start at just £400 per unit, offering considerable savings over more extensive treatments such as orthodontics and teeth whitening.

What’s a cheaper alternative to veneers?
Composite bonding offers an excellent alternative to veneers. Instead of placing pre-formed shells of material over the teeth, a soft resin is applied and formed to the desired shape. This is then cured with a special light to harden the material. Composite bonding can repair chips, cracks, gaps and conceal discolouration.
Do you brush veneers?
Yes, you care for your veneers as you would any other teeth. It’s important to continue brushing as normal to remove any bacteria from the surface of the veneer. Although the veneer material cannot decay like a natural tooth, you will still need to care for the gums and surrounding structure to keep your whole mouth healthy. If you’re unsure about how to care for your veneers, our friendly hygienist team can help.
Are veneers permanent?
Veneers are a permanent restoration, but this doesn’t mean that they will last forever. To place veneers on the teeth, a small amount of enamel must be removed. If no dental material were removed, the veneers would take up more space and feel unnatural in the mouth. This means that it is a permanent restoration, as you will need to replace the veneer if it chips or breaks away.
Which one is better, Emax or zirconia?
Although zirconia is stronger than Emax, it is a darker material so it isn’t suitable for the front teeth. Zirconia is better suited to rear teeth that face more daily wear and tear.
How strong are Emax Veneers?
Emax veneers are incredibly strong and will feel just like your natural teeth. Emax veneers are made from a compressed ceramic, which is a strong yet thin material. Some things may shorten the life of your veneers, including biting your nails or grinding your teeth.
How long do Emax veneers last?
With the appropriate care, your Emax veneers could last up to 20 years. When choosing between veneers and composite bonding, it’s vital to consider that porcelain veneers may one day need replacing while composite bonding will simply wear away.
