What are implant-retained dentures?
Implant retained dentures offer a superior solution to poorly-fitted dentures. Four to six small implants are placed in your jaw and used to create a permanent anchor that your dentures "click" onto. How does it work?
Implant retained dentures offer an alternative to dentures. The journey starts by placing four to six dental implants for each arch. These small titanium roots will then bond with the jaw bone in a process known as osseointegration. Once healed, either a bar or locators are placed on the implants to create an anchor point for your denture. This anchor is permanent and provides a ‘snap-on’ solution, allowing you to remove your dentures to care for them.

Clinical assessment

Placing the implants
The first step in placing implants is to drill a hole in the jaw and place the titanium root. The gum is stitched closed. You then wear a temporary denture until it heals.
Return to the practice
During your next visit, a bar or locators are placed on the implants. These will be visible above the gum line and provide an anchor point for your denture.
Placing your dentures
New dentures with a much smaller baseplate will replace your existing dentures. You can now speak, chew and smile with confidence again.
Aftercare and support
We will provide you with all of the information you need to take care of your teeth. We also recommend regular dental checks.
